Help us build harder bots
Today you can play against Beginner and Intermediate computer opponents. Stronger “Advanced” bots need real games to learn from — and you can help by opting in on your profile.
tl;dr: From the Menu, open your Profile, find "Improve computer opponents", and toggle on "Contribute my games to training".
What is bot training?
When you opt in, Thirteen Cards may record anonymized snapshots of games you play: hands, legal moves, and what was played. That data is used to improve future computer opponents.
We do not store your email address or display name in training data. Player identities in recordings are replaced with one-way hashed keys so decisions can be studied without tying them back to you.
How to opt in
- Open game.xiii.cards and sign in.
- Go to Profile from the menu (top navigation).
- Find Improve computer opponents and turn on Contribute my games to training.
Bot skill levels today
| Skill | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Beginner | Plays legal moves with simple strategy — good for learning the rules. |
| Intermediate | Considers hand structure and opponent pressure; a step up in difficulty. |
| Advanced (future) | Will be trained from opted-in games. More training data means better opponents for everyone. |
What gets recorded?
- Cards in your hand and on the table at each decision point
- What you (and other humans) chose to play or pass
- How many cards each opponent still holds
- Game settings such as number of players and bot skill level
Games with only one human player can still be recorded if you have opted in. Games that include friends require each human to have opted in before any data is saved.
Privacy & control
- Opt in or out at any time from your profile.
- Changing the setting affects future games only.
- Training data is for improving in-game bots, not for advertising.
